Thinking about buying the HEIHEI 1080P 4K action camera? Today I will review this device and see if it’s really worth buying. Also, I will mention some alternatives and compare them.
The HEIHEI action camera can record in 4K but there is a catch – the FPS (frames per second) is just 10. But if you record in 1080P – then the problem is solved and you can enjoy 60FPS which is great. There are other action cameras in this range with better FPS rate at 4K. One of them is APEMAN 4K (Amazon link). At 4K, it records in 24 FPS – which is much better than 10 FPS.The HEIHEI camera supports MicroSD memory cards up to 32GB. Don’t buy a 64/128GB one because they just won’t be supported. I often get emails from people asking why their camera auto deleted videos. In most cases – they use a memory card with too much, unsupported capacity.
Another great action camera worth checking out is YI 4K (Amazon link). It is manufactured by Xiaomi, which many of you already heard about. The video quality this camera offers is really amazing. I also want to mention that recently the company released an upgraded version which offers even better quality (and of course that effects the price tag as well).
The HEIHEI 1080P 4K action camera has built-in WIFI. All you have to do is download the XDV app and you can view the live stream and control the camera from distance. I want to mention that the WIFI range is ok- between 5 and 10 meters. The WI-FI connection is stable as well – no lags. Many people use the WIFI features often, I persoanlly don’t – but for most, it’s a must have feature.
The 900MAH battery lasts 40-90 minutes, depending on the video recording quality. Right now the company does not sell any spare batteries, so that’s something you should keep in mind. I guess some of the other 900MAH batteries may fit, but I don’t recommend taking the risk. There are many cameras that come with stronger batteries, including the action cameras I mentioned in the “video quality” section.
HEIHEI 1080P 4K comes with a waterproof case you can install in seconds. Make sure it is tight, and you can start recording videos underwater. The video quality stys the same of course. The sound get’s a little bit muffled because of the added casing, but that’s not really a con since it’s a very common thing. Some expensive action cameras come without a waterproof case, so here you win twice – affordable camera and “free” case. The AKASO EK7000 action camera also comes with a waterproof case.
