I got few messeges in the last weel, asking to review KDLINKS’s new media player. So, this time I will test KDLINKS HD720 (Amazon link) , compare it with Android TV boxes and tell you if this device is worth buying.
KDLINKS HD720 is a powerful media player and streamer. It can handle and play Full HD movies/videos smoothly. It supports 3D media files as well. Different codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD are supported as well (providing great video and sound quality). The chipset KDLINKS HD720 uses is Realtek 1186 3D. It’s fairly powerful and reliable.
The built-in WIFI works great, you can connect the device to high speed WIFI networks around you within seconds. It’s important to have a fast LAN or WIFI network if you plan on streaming Full HD /3D videos (to avoid lags and “loading” times).
Do keep in mind that KDLINKS HD720 is meant to be used solely as a media player. If you want a device that runs the Android operating system – defiantly check out KDLINKS A300 (Amazon link). This device can run Android apps and games, and can even handle 4K video playback. One of the most powerful Android TV boxes out there.
The great thing about the KDLINKS HD720 media player is that it supports HDD storage units of up to 4TB – and it’s amazing ! If you need a device to store thousends or hundreds of videos and files on – well, you found it ! You can also stream directly from local networks of course.
The front LCD screen is very useful and nice. I personally don’t think you will use it much – everything can be configured and control using the included remote control.
The device comes ready to use out of the box. All you need to do is connect it to your TV (using a simple HDMI cable), plug the device – and it’s ready. The user interface is easy and nice. There are many advanced settings you can set, but that does not make the device “complex” or hard to use.
As I mentioned, I think the KDLINKS A300 is a great device as well. It’s advantage is the Android operating system. That gives you access to tens of thousends of great Android apps and games. You can make your TV a “Smart TV” using it.
